See in one database what is being produced on the shop floor, how much, and at what cost: raw materials, work centers, quality and warehouse. This page covers five areas together; the main industries have separate pages.
For these industries, industry-specific processes and Uzbekistan's requirements are covered in detail on a separate page. The five areas below are covered on this page itself.
BoM, shop-floor plan, raw material reservation, work center load and actual cost. Go to the page →
Made-to-order variants, cutting and assembly stages, hardware consumption. Go to the page →

A device is assembled from components and ships with a serial number. In Odoo, components are listed in the bill of materials (BoM), the manufacturing order reserves them, and the finished device gets a serial number. According to Odoo's documentation, the traceability report shows where a product came from, where it was stored and who it was sent to. The Odoo 20 release notes say that lot or serial numbers from the previous and next stage appear together in a single report. This makes it possible to identify which devices received a defective batch of components.
When the design changes, the PLM app (Enterprise) maintains BoM versions and engineering change orders (ECO) with approval stages. In service, the “Under Warranty” flag on a Repair order keeps parts covered by warranty off the customer's bill.
At a plant with molds and machines, the key questions are how much granulate goes into one product, how much is waste, and how long the machine has run. In Odoo, a machine is a work center. You set its working schedule, hourly cost, productivity target (OEE), setup time before a job (changing the mold) and cleanup time afterwards. Capacity and preparation time are also recorded separately for each product.
Recyclable waste is recorded as a by-product, and rejects through “Scrap”. A reorder rule for missing granulate prepares a purchase request. Molds are kept as equipment in the Maintenance app, and repair requests can be opened against them.
In a shop that makes parts to order, every order has its own drawing, operation sequence and cost. In Odoo, the order goes into production with a bill of materials, and operations (cutting, bending, welding, painting) are queued by work center. The operation sequence is set with the “Blocked By” setting, and the worker starts and finishes each operation on the Shop Floor screen. A multi-level part is described with nested BoMs (multilevel BoM), and its dimensions are checked with a “Measure” control point.
Some operations (for example, surface coating) are carried out at a subcontractor. Odoo handles subcontracting in three modes: the subcontractor sources the component itself; you send the component; or the vendor ships the component directly to the subcontractor.
In chemical production, recipe accuracy, batches and quality documents are decisive: it must later be clear from which raw materials and with what quality result each batch was made. In Odoo, the recipe is kept as a bill of materials, each batch gets a lot number, shelf life is managed with four dates, and FEFO issues the batch closest to expiry first. Quality control points record the result at receipt, in process and at output; if a defect is found, a quality alert is opened.
Units are converted according to the documentation's rules; the density-based conversion rule between mass and volume (kg and liters) is defined during the diagnostic.
A company that processes agricultural produce (drying, sorting, packing, canning) works seasonally: raw material arrives in large volumes over a short period. In Odoo, raw material at the receiving point is received into the warehouse, gets a batch number, goes through a quality check (for example, recording moisture with “Measure”) and is consumed in a manufacturing order. The difference between input and output (loss) is visible in the order's consumption and cost columns. For repeat deliveries from a farmer, a long-term purchase agreement (blanket order) is used: the terms are recorded in advance, and every order created under the agreement is linked to it.
Odoo's documentation does not mention a dedicated agro app in its list of apps. The Apps Store has third-party agro modules (27 in the Odoo 20 line, as of October 25, 2026), but according to the Odoo Apps FAQ, third-party apps do not run on Odoo Online (data modules without a Python file are an exception). If field or harvest tracking is needed, Studio or a custom module is estimated.
Not everything works out of the box. The list below is refined during the diagnostic against your process. The data follows the Odoo 20 documentation; if your version differs, we check it during the diagnostic.
| Goal | In standard Odoo | Extra work (BUline) |
|---|---|---|
| Traceability by component lot and serial number | Included: lots, serial numbers, traceability report | Setting the number format and choosing which products get tracking |
| Bill of materials versions and approval | Included: PLM, engineering change orders, approval (Enterprise) | Configuring roles and approval stages |
| Machine, mold changeover time, OEE | Included: work center settings, capacity per product | Your time and cost values; connecting a counter is estimated separately |
| Waste, reprocessable residue, rejects | Included: by-products and “Scrap” | Waste reprocessing scheme |
| Working with a subcontractor | Included: three modes (Subcontracting) | Document exchange with the subcontractor and allocation of responsibility |
| Quality control | Included (Enterprise): Pass–Fail, Measure, photo, instructions, worksheet | Entering standards and the tolerance table |
| Safety data sheet and hazardous substance label | Not described in the documentation | File attachment or a Studio form; a custom label is estimated separately |
| Field and harvest records (agro) | Not mentioned in the documentation’s app list; third-party modules exist in the Apps Store | Studio or a custom module; a third-party module is not used on Odoo Online |
| Automatic warranty period calculation | In Repair, the flag is set manually | A rule that counts from the sale date |
The items below have been checked against official sources. Those that apply to your product are recorded in a written list during the diagnostic.
Reports are not copied into a separate table: they are built from the orders, work orders and stock moves in the same database.
| Mistake | Consequence | How we prevent it |
|---|---|---|
| Enabling serial numbers for every product | More extra data entry at receiving and assembly, and longer working time | Enable it only for products that carry a warranty or may need a recall |
| Not entering machine changeover and cleaning time | The plan comes out lighter than the actual load | Set the time before and after the operation on the work center |
| Not accounting for waste and by-products | Actual cost and stock come out wrong | Track by-products and “Scrap” from day one |
| Changing a bill of materials without versions | You lose track of which composition went into which unit | Approve the change through PLM, or at least record it with a date and the person responsible |
This list speeds up the diagnostic. We can start even if not everything is ready.
Most manufacturing processes rest on the same foundation: bill of materials, work centers, raw materials, quality and cost. We analyze your process at the first meeting and tell you how much of it the Odoo apps cover. We do not promise a ready-made industry solution: we study the process during the diagnostic.
Usually the apps for manufacturing, inventory, purchasing and sales. Quality control, Shop Floor and bill of materials versions (PLM) belong to the Enterprise edition. The apps are described on the “Manufacturing” page.
Tracking adds extra data entry for every product. The Odoo documentation recommends lots for high-volume goods and serial numbers where the history of each unit matters. That is why we enable serial numbers only for products that carry a warranty or may need a recall. In a manufacturing order, a sequence of numbers for several units can be generated at once.
The Odoo documentation does not describe such an app. The Apps Store has third-party agro modules; they are installed on Odoo.sh or on your own server, not on Odoo Online. The options — using a module, Studio or a custom module — are assessed during the diagnostic. Hosting types →
Yes. Usually reference data, open balances and the history for the required period are migrated; details are on the “Implementation” page.
The Odoo license depends on the number of users and apps (terms are on odoo.com). The scope of BUline’s service depends on the number of work centers and product groups, users, apps, customization, integrations, data volume and training. The exact cost and timeline are given in a written proposal after the free diagnostic.
During the diagnostic, we review your processes and tell you where standard Odoo is enough and where configuration is needed — with an app list, edition and phases.
