Seasonal batches, size and color variants, the customer's raw materials and export documents move through Odoo in a single chain. You can see whose fabric is whose, where each batch is, and why the margin dropped.
One model comes in dozens of sizes and colors, fabric arrives in meters but is counted in kilograms, and the customer sometimes supplies the raw materials. Excel cannot cope with this.
The Odoo website lists the CRM, Inventory, Manufacturing, Website, Purchase and Project apps for textiles. Shop Floor, Quality and Barcode are in the Enterprise edition (odoo.com/page/editions). Which apps are needed is determined during the diagnostic.
Customer inquiry, sample request, quotation stages.
Quotation and order by model, size and color; advance payment and pro forma invoice.
Sample and approval tasks with a deadline and an owner.
Bill of materials (BoM), cutting and sewing orders, by-products, cost.
Tablet at the sewing section: starting and finishing an operation, defects.
Fabric rolls, trims, finished goods; tracking by batch and package.
Raw material purchasing, contract sewing, sending components to the subcontractor.
Control points after cutting and sewing, defect alert.
Cost, invoice, 12% and 0% VAT (export), foreign currency accounting.
Online showroom and request form for the customer.
The model is created as a product, size and color become attributes, and each combination becomes a variant. If the variant creation mode is “on order” (Dynamically), a variant is created only when it is added to a sales order, so a large matrix does not produce redundant records. Once the attribute is added to a product, the mode cannot be changed. In the bill of materials a component can be linked to a variant: for example, more fabric for size 44, black thread only for the black color. If left blank, the component is used in all variants.
At each stage the document and its status are kept inside Odoo. A manufacturing order goes through six states, from draft to closing.
The customer inquiry is recorded in CRM, and a project and tasks are opened for the sample.
Quantities by model, size and color are entered in the grid, and an advance or pro forma invoice is prepared.
Consumption of fabric, thread, buttons and labels is calculated from the bill of materials, and a purchase request is created for any shortfall.
Fabric is consumed from the roll, and the offcut is recorded as a by-product or as scrap.
In your own workshop, with work orders; at a subcontractor, with a subcontracting order and by sending the components.
A control point requests an inspection, and finished goods are received into the warehouse by batch and package.
Invoice and, for exports, a set of supporting documents; when the order is closed, planned and actual cost are compared.
If the customer sends fabric, you sew as a service. Under Article 248 of the Tax Code, when a service of making goods from raw materials handed over for processing on a return basis is supplied, the VAT base is determined by the value of the processing service, excluding tax. So the value of the customer's fabric should not enter your turnover. In Odoo, ownership is kept in the “Consignment” setting using the “Assign Owner” field; such stock does not appear in the “Stock Valuation” report.
For seasonal demand there is a master production schedule (MPS): the demand forecast is entered by weekly or monthly periods, and the schedule gives a recommendation for purchasing or production. It does not create orders itself. A large order can be split into batches. If continuous production is enabled, as soon as twenty out of a hundred pieces are cut, they move to the next operation while the cutting section continues with the rest.
Fabric left over from cutting is recorded in the bill of materials as a “by-product” (By-products) and appears in warehouse records as a separate stock balance. A defective component goes through “Scrap” to a virtual location, so the physical stock is not distorted. Cut parts are handled as a semi-finished product in a multi-level bill of materials, with their own card and cost. For the value of work in progress, a “WIP” entry is posted manually.
Not everything works out of the box. The list below is clarified against your process during the diagnostic.
| Goal | In standard Odoo | Extra work (BUline) |
|---|---|---|
| Size-color matrix | Attributes, variants, quantity entry in a grid (Grid Entry) | Designing the variant structure for a large matrix; estimated separately if the rules are complex |
| Material consumption by variant | Linking a bill of materials line to a variant (Apply on Variants) | Size-proportional consumption formula (if required) |
| Cutting map and nesting | Not described in the documentation | Integration with external software or a custom module; estimated separately |
| Customer-supplied materials | Ownership (Consignment, Assign Owner) and subcontracting documents | Scheme for consuming and returning the customer's fabric and for the service invoice |
| Contract sewing | Yes: three modes, with the component held at the subcontractor in a separate location | Document exchange with the subcontractor and a liability agreement |
| Workshop screen and control | Shop Floor, Quality, Barcode (Enterprise) | Setting up steps, labels and the control plan |
| Seasonal planning | Master production schedule (MPS), reorder rules | Entering the season calendar and forecast rules |
| Export documents | Pro forma invoice, the “0% Export” tax; the customs declaration is filed in the customs system | Procedure for attaching the document set to the order, plus fields if needed |
| Electronic invoice in the tax system | Odoo has an invoice; connection to the tax system is not mentioned in the Uzbekistan localization documentation | Connection to the operator is assessed separately |
The rules below are taken from the Tax Code (lex.uz). The edition in force is rechecked at the start of the project.
Figures are taken from official sources, with dates. The list of requirements keeps changing: the current edition is checked during the diagnostic.
Each integration is assessed and connected separately. We do not promise that a ready-made connector exists.
The indicators are built from work orders, inventory and accounting entries.
The stages follow the general BUline Method; the timeline is agreed in writing after the diagnostic. We study the process for your industry during the diagnostic. Implementation process →
We study the path from sample to shipment, the size-color structure, and the schemes for the customer's raw materials and subcontractors. Result: business requirements document (BRD).
Apps, variant structure, units of measure, ownership scheme, tax settings and integrations are approved.
In the first sprint, 1–2 model groups go through the full path from sample to export document.
Managers, warehouse staff, cutters, sewing foremen and accountants are trained by role, followed by a test with a real order.
Intensified support, then new apps, reports and integrations.
This list speeds up the diagnostic; you can start even if not everything is ready.
Odoo manages variants through attributes and lets you enter quantities in a grid. The number of variants depends on the product, so we design the variant structure during the diagnostic and use the “on order” mode. For a very large matrix, performance is tested on a test database.
Odoo offers ownership tracking (Consignment): you specify who the stock belongs to, and it does not enter the stock valuation report. However, the documentation describes this feature using a supplier as the example. We develop the scheme for consuming the customer's fabric in production and for the service invoice during the diagnostic, and verify it on a test database.
Under Article 248 of the Tax Code, for a service of making goods from raw materials handed over for processing on a return basis, the base is determined by the value of the processing service, excluding tax. The specific accounting policy is set by the accountant, and Odoo's tax settings are adapted to it.
Odoo provides the pro forma invoice and the “0% Export” tax. The customs cargo declaration and tracking documents are prepared outside Odoo. We set up the procedure for attaching them to the order and add a report that helps assemble a ready set for the tax return.
Under Article 266 of the Tax Code, if the taxpayer is not a disciplined taxpayer, input VAT is accounted for in proportion to the share of foreign currency proceeds; if no proceeds arrive within 180 calendar days, the tax that was accounted for is reversed. Standard Odoo does not monitor this deadline by itself: a report by shipment date and receipt of proceeds is agreed during the diagnostic.
Odoo's documentation does not describe a tool for automatically building a cutting map. Bringing the output of external cutting software into Odoo, or writing a custom module, is estimated separately.
The Shop Floor and Quality apps are available in the Enterprise edition. Custom-code modules cannot be installed on Odoo Online; if custom-code development is needed, Odoo.sh or your own server is chosen.
The Odoo license depends on the number of users and apps (terms at odoo.com). The scope of BUline's services depends on model groups, sections, users, branches, integrations, data volume and training; the exact cost and timeline are given in a written proposal after the free diagnostic.
During the diagnostic, we review your processes and tell you where standard Odoo is enough and where configuration is needed — with an app list, edition and phases.
